Standing Against the Genocide of the Palestinian People | Issue #17
Hello, sisters of the world!
Today we join the voices of all the people who struggle for justice and denounce the genocide of Palestinians and the escalating war perpetrated by Israel and the United Stats against the peoples of Palestine, Lebanon, and other countries in the Middle East. We denounce the more than 40,000 deaths of Palestinians killed by Israel since October 7th, 2023. We express our solidarity with our sisters of the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees (UPWC), which are part of the World March of Women (WMW) and who are being arrested and persecuted and had their office vandalized and shut down on October 1st.
Hearing the voices of Palestinian women is a fundamental condition to understand the historical and current forms of the genocide of the Palestinian people. We strive to publish content that encourages internationalist feminist solidarity and show the resistance of women who stand up for life and land in Palestine and around the world. The Palestinian struggle is a feminist struggle because “for Palestinian women, there is no liberation from patriarchy without liberation from Zionism.” This week we will publish on our social media a video by the WMW in partnership with Capire features voices of militants from different parts of the world in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle. Follow @capiremov and @worldmarchofwomen on social media.
The imperialist forces of the United States are increasing their attacks against different parts of the world. In Venezuela, the offensives and coup attempts against the government elected in June this year have immersed the country in a violent atmosphere. Capire and the Argentina-based portal Arg Medios recently spoke with Tamayba Lara, of the Communal Union of the Cultural Left-wing Front, and Alejandra Laprea, of the WMW, about the country’s current political context and the political work and organization they have been engaged in on the ground.
We have also published an article about the first on-site edition of the Berta Cáceres International Feminist Organizing School for Facilitators, which took place at the Ecosol Center in Honduras August 5-9, 2024. The school was attended by 75 militants from 26 countries, who exchanged experiences and expanded their feminist knowledge, perspectives, and methodologies to build political education capacities and encourage the organization of regional and local schools.
Yesterday, October 6th, marked one year since we lost our great sister Nalu Faria. We miss Nalu in the everyday life of feminist struggles and also as someone who oversaw and advised our work at Capire. This is why we strive to keep her memory present with us, always. Yesterday we published a video recorded during an ALBA Movements Assembly and edited by the World March of Women Brazil for its 3rd National Meeting, which took place in June this year and paid many tributes to Nalu. The video features her talking about her revolutionary dreams. Viva Nalu!
