It was a year of struggle for peace and peoples’ sovereignty. A year of unyielding solidarity with the women who sustain life in territories ravaged by genocide, war, and armed conflicts. At Capire, we have striven to echo the voices of these women fighters, who resist in Sudan, Palestine, and several other places brutally attacked by patriarchal and racist capitalism.
Capire has also been a space to denounce sanctions, blockades, and other imperialist interventions, like those affecting Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and Niger, as well as the different forms of violence that are the gears of the capital-life conflict. Prisons, for example, are “a drive belt for the systems of oppression,” as we heard in one of our interviews.
We have shared the vision that, while the crisis generated by capitalism is one crisis, it has multiple dimensions. To overcome it, we must present grassroots feminist alternatives that integrate all of these dimensions. One of them, for example, is tackling the destruction and commodification of nature, climate change, and the impacts of extractivism. This fight includes building food sovereignty and a feminist critique against the false solutions proposed by big transnational corporations and states in the global North.
2024 was a year of mobilization, meetings, and political education. We covered some of these processes spearheaded by grassroots movements, including the International Feminist Organizing School (IFOS), the Peoples’ Summit facing the G20, the Conference on the Integration of Latin American and the Caribbean Peoples, the Regional Meeting of the World March of Women Americas, and the WMW National Meeting in Brazil.
We have also organized an international online discussion about a pressing matter: the socialization of domestic and care work, drawing from different experiences and initiatives. This is a strategy to empower feminist economy, a political bid to radically change society aiming to put life on center stage.
Being continuously in movement, empowering women’s self-organization everywhere and internationally, is fundamental. This is why 2025 will be a year of many struggles—and we will be there, building grassroots feminist communications!
“We will continue to march against war and capitalism and for popular sovereignty and good living” is the motto of the 6th International Action of the World March of Women, which starts in February 2025 and will move activists from all regions of the world throughout the year until October. With this motto, we continue to work for the struggles ahead.
In 2024, we started to count on the direct support from people and organizations that help us afford to continue to work and publish content promoting language justice. Thank you! We invite everyone who follows us to visit our website, read the content we have published this year, and donate to Capire. We are feminist voices to change the world!
