This week on Capire | Body, Territory, Biodiversity
Hello, sisters of the world!
“We want to provide new meaning to nature, learning from the knowledge of traditional communities who embody the conception that we are nature,” Miriam Nobre, of the World March of Women Brazil, writes. In her article about feminist resistance in face of the capitalist offensive against nature, Miriam addresses women’s relationship with their territories and how they fight exploitation and privatization.
This week we also published an article by Lilian Roizman and Natália Lobo on the 15th Biodiversity Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), which took place in December 2022 in Montreal. Their article recounts how the spaces of negotiation of the Biodiversity COP are ruled by big corporations, demonstrating how important grassroots movements are to prevent biodiversity collapse and ensure the sustainability of life.
