Environmental justice to confront the capital-life conflict and grassroots communication for food sovereignty | Issue #6
Hello, sisters of the world!
This week on Capire we published an article by Karin Nansen, from REDES - Friends of the Earth Uruguay, on the articulations and struggles needed to confront the systemic crises of capitalism. For Karin, “it is impossible to fight crises from within national borders, or just at a territorial and local level.” The activist presents the contexts of the crises in Latin America and points out the ways in which grassroots feminism can build emancipatory political projects.
We also share the grassroots and peasant communication experience of Defending Peasant Rights (DPR). The project seeks to disseminate the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants (UNDROP) and its applications in different territories in order to build a knowledge-sharing network. By sharing personal stories, a tool like DPR allows people to better understand how in a very regional and contextual way the declaration can be implemented. We have also published a video produced by the Capire and DPR teams during the 8th International Conference of La Via Campesina. Watch it here:
