✏️ Continental Schools of Women: Strategy for Political Education and Feminist Struggle by La Via Campesina
In 2024, the Women’s Articulation of La Via Campesina has worked to hold a coordinated series of Continental Schools. These schools play an important role in developing a popular peasant feminism that can face the dilemmas of the territories. For the latest edition of the radio show Fúria Feminista, produced by Real World Radio, Capire, and the World March of Women Brazil, we discussed the feminist education schools organized in Togo, the Dominican Republic, Mozambique, Thailand, and Galicia. You can read about this experience at Capire and listen to this and other stories about feminist education schools and meetings on the episode “Together and Organized” of Fúria Feminista, available in Spanish.
✊ Alicia Alonso Merino: “Prison Is a Drive Belt for the Systems of Oppression”
We spoke with the feminist lawyer and activist Alicia Alonso Merino about the anti-prison struggle around the world and the violations endured by women in prison. “To abolish prisons, the penal law, and the culture of punishment, the world as we know it must be abolished,” Alicia argues. In the interview, conducted in partnership with the media outlet Brasil de Fato, Alicia spoke about the connections between feminism and the anti-prison struggle, about prison conditions around the world, and about the attacks by Israel against the Palestinian people.
