This week on Capire | Struggle against wars: learn about the Women in Black and the National Union of Sahrawi Women
Hello comrades from all over the world!
This week we’ve published two interviews with women in struggle for autonomy and grassroots sovereignty. Mireya Forel is a militant of the international anti-militarist feminist movement Women in Black. In this interview she gave to Capire, Mireya talks about the trajectory of Women in Black and the movement’s contributions to fight against wars and colonialist violence, based on an anti-patriarchy perspective. “We try to avoid the silence about war, and it requires the huge effort of knowing what is going on”, she says.
“Our struggle and hope is that the Sahrawi people return to Western Sahara, but under the flag of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, that is the true future and the future for the Sahrawi woman”, defends Ayla Chejh, member of the National Union of Sahrawi Women. Ayla presents in her article the political organization of Sahrawi women from the refugee camps, women from the occupied territory and among the diaspora in defense for their people’s sovereignty. She also talks about the struggles during these times of war against Morocco.
