This week on Capire | The Philippines and Kenya Against Militarism And Transnational Corporations
Hello, sisters of the world!
In an interview published this week, Jean Enriquez, of the World March of Women, addresses the historical context of exploitation and sexual violence women from the Philippines and Southeast Asia endure. Jean explains the relationship between militarism, imperialism, and prostitution, talks about the struggle to remove military bases from the country, and discusses the challenges facing the feminist movement in the current political context.
In Africa, organizations from several countries are facing corporate power that seizes food systems, controls communities, and exploits nature. Leonida Odongo, of the World March of Women Kenya, writes about the forms of oppression perpetrated by transnational corporations against the peoples and their territories in African countries. She also promotes the alternatives built by women, based on grassroots organizing and agroecology.
