What's new this week | Food Sovereignty, Peace, and Grassroots Communications
Hello, women of the world!
This week, we shared three new pieces on our website. First, we published an excerpt from the paper Dismantling Patriarchy While (Also) Building Food Sovereignty, produced by Friends of the Earth International. The article features statements by women from several regions of the world who are part of the organization. This week, when the Community on World Food Security will meet for negotiations on “gender equality and empowerment of women and children,” we join the organizations that fight for environmental justice and say: food sovereignty now! - #FoodSovereigntyNow!
We also published an article by Nora García, a member of the European secretariat of the International People’s Assembly (IPA) and the international coordination of the platform No Cold War. In addition to the translation of the text, we also provided the recording of her speech, in Spanish. “Feminism Is a Global Cry Against War” is an article about the role of feminism in building anti-capitalist peace, and an edited version of Nora’s speech during the panel “Women Against War” held by Capire in March.
Finally, continuing our coverage of the 3th Continental Assembly of ALBA Movements, which took place between April 27th and 30th, we published an article about the experience of convergence in grassroots communications at the event. Women communicators shared their reflections on the routine of this task and the political agenda of communications. “Just like social movements take to the streets to express their demands, the communications sector and these organizations must fight against the concentration of the word,” a sister who attended the meeting said. In May, we will continue to publish content about this coverage. Follow us for more!

::: Coverage: Women Workers Marching in Argentina
This May 1, International Workers’ Day, we took part in the Workers’ March in Buenos Aires, Argentina, taking to streets that are marked by resistance as well as grassroots feminist victories. We share below photos that show the radical character, the organization, and the major role played by women in labor union movements during the demonstration. We also publish stories by women activists who attended the rally, in which they talk about the challenges facing the labor world today and the tasks of feminism in social change. | Gallery
We invite women, women’s or gender dissidents collectives to reflect from a feminist approach on: 1. The challenges and practices of women to sustain life in contexts of war 2. The contributions of feminism for peace building
This feminist section will be published as a virtual gallery on Capire and the Peace Summit website, with an introductory text visualizing the whole process of “(In)security” and the construction of the “No to NATO” Peace Summit. More information on: peacesummitmadrid.org.
